Pilmico’s Noble Course: Steering Flood-stricken Duck Raisers Towards Recovery

SOURCE: ABOITIZ/PILMICO

In the face of adversity, it is resilience and a joined effort that paves the way for recovery. Pilmico Animal Nutrition Corporation (Pilmico), a beacon of hope for many, has exemplified this spirit in the wake of the recent floods that devastated the farming community in Carmen, Davao del Norte. Traditionally celebrated for recognizing top-performing local retailers through its annual “Agripost Conference,” Pilmico has taken a turn from celebration to solidarity in the mission to uplift the flood-stricken duck raisers of Mindanao.

The decision to transform a time of recognition into a moment of communal aid was personified in Pilmico’s recent initiative, “Padayon Gihapon Ta, Partner” (Let’s Keep Going, Partner). Foregoing the usual festivities, Pilmico along with its compassionate partners Panabo Bluz and Chemar Marketing, has directed its resources to a more pressing call of action - the plight of local duck raisers reeling from the calamitous floods of early February.

Collaborative Recovery Efforts: Laying the Foundations of Support
The commitment to rebuild what was lost is seen in the two-day recovery assistance program organized collaboratively with the local government, the agricultural office, and the Provincial Veterinary Office of Brgy. Anibongan. True to their word, Pilmico’s support materialized through tangible efforts: a veterinary mission for livestock raisers and distribution of critical resources like “Avemax” duck feeds and “Vet Kits” filled with animal nutrition supplements to 175 beneficiaries impacted by the flood.

Jefferson Abian, the Assistant Vice President for Feeds Sales at Pilmico, delivered opening remarks at the event, not only as formality but as a heartfelt message of encouragement. He emphasized the essence of perseverance during crises and reiterated Pilmico’s commitment to being a “Partner for Growth,” thus cementing the corporation's dedication to support and assistance.

Even as the sounds of the usual Agripost Conference festivities were absent, the initiative brought a different resonance—an echo of relief and the sound of a community rallying together. This effort was not just a temporary palliative but represented a sustained commitment to the well-being of Carmen’s duck raisers, ensuring the growth and development of the local livestock industry.

As Pilmico and its partners laid the groundwork for recovery, they also set the stage for sustainable development. The assistance program is not a one-off gesture but the cornerstone of a long-term partnership aimed at bolstering the local economy's foundation: its farmers and their livelihoods.

Understanding that recovery is a multi-faceted process, Pilmico's approach was equally comprehensive. Beyond immediate relief, the commitment stretched to educating the local farmers, thereby empowering them with knowledge and resources to prevent or mitigate the impacts of such natural calamities in the future.

Pilmico’s approach blended community engagement with a deep sense of compassion, essential in rehabilitating both the material and moral fiber of the farming communities. The cooperative effort showcased the power of synergy that can emerge from such partnerships, propelling the local agricultural sector towards stability and growth.

The unwavering spirit of the duck raisers and the unabated support of Pilmico and its associates showcased the resilience innate in the community. This union of forces and determination serves as a tangible reminder of the collective strength a united community holds even when faced with extraordinary challenges.

Reflections on Growth and Partnership
As the "Padayon Gihapon Ta, Partner" initiative concludes, reflecting on the lessons of growth and partnership becomes imperative. Pilmico's choice to prioritize community over celebration is a testament to the company's values and vision, underlining the promise of 'partnering for growth' in more than just words but through decisive, compassionate actions.

In conclusion, Pilmico's redirection from the Agripost Conference to “Padayon Gihapon Ta, Partner” has strengthened the fabric of a vulnerable community by transforming a period of loss into an opportunity for growth. It stands as an embodiment of what it means to be a 'Partner for Growth,' nurturing a legacy of collective endurance and prosperity in the face of calamity.
