Celebrating 75 Years of Philippine-Korean Diplomacy: The MRT-7 Project Unveiled

In celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and South Korea, a historic visit was made by the Korean Ambassador Lee Sang-hwa to the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) facilities in Quezon City. This marked an important milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the two nations. 

The MRT-7 project, a joint venture between the Philippine conglomerate San Miguel Corporation (SMC) and several Korean firms, promises to revolutionize transportation in the region. The completion of this project will symbolize the strong ties between the two countries and their shared vision for a progressive and interconnected future.

The MRT-7 project is more than just a transportation system. It represents an innovative solution to the chronic congestion in Metro Manila. This project, stretching over 22.8 kilometers, will seamlessly connect Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. 

With the capacity to serve up to 850,000 passengers daily, the MRT-7 project is highly anticipated for its potential to drastically improve urban transit and decongest Metro Manila. This is a testament to the collaborative efforts of SMC and their Korean partners in bringing state-of-the-art technology to the Philippines.

Ambassador Lee's visit to the MRT-7 facilities provided an insightful glimpse into the workings of this large-scale project. His tour of the depot in Greater Lagro, Quezon City, showcased the innovative Korean technology being employed in this game-changing venture.

Their shared expertise and technological prowess have greatly contributed to the project. The ambassador's appreciation for the modern and state-of-the-art trainsets, identical to those used in Korea, was a clear endorsement of Korea’s contribution to the project.

The MRT-7 project signals a significant enhancement of mobility for Filipinos in Quezon City and Bulacan. It is expected to revolutionize daily commute, reduce traffic congestion, and promote economic growth.
