Ah, the holiday season! The time of year when everyone is bustling about, trying to catch flights to spend time with loved ones. At the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), things are getting extra busy, and New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) is in full swing to make sure everything runs smoothly. Let’s dive into how NNIC plans to handle what’s expected to be the busiest holiday travel season yet.
This year, NNIC is gearing up for a whirlwind of activity. With a staggering 2.296 million passengers expected from December 20 to January 3, that’s a 10.95% increase from last year! It seems like everyone and their grandmother is flying this season. But fear not, because NNIC is all about making sure your holiday travel is smooth sailing.
They’re not doing it alone, though. NNIC is coordinating with key players like the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and even the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP). These collaborations ensure that security is tight, lines are short, and operations are running like a well-oiled machine.
NNIC has been busy bees, working on improvements to enhance passenger experience. Since taking over management of NAIA just 90 days ago, they’ve rolled out a series of upgrades. Let’s take a closer look at what’s new.
Traffic congestion is the last thing you want when you’re trying to catch a flight. To alleviate this, NNIC has added more drop-off and pick-up lanes. This means less time spent in traffic and more time spent sipping coffee at your gate.
Getting a ride from the airport should be the least of your worries. With the new centralized transport hub at Terminal 3, you can now easily hop into a metered taxi or a ride-hailing service. It’s all about making ground transportation more organized and hassle-free.
Who doesn’t love a comfy terminal with fast Wi-Fi? NNIC has installed new air-conditioning units to keep you cool, and upgraded Wi-Fi services ensure you’re always connected. Whether you’re catching up on emails or streaming your favorite holiday movie, NAIA’s got you covered.
But wait, there’s more! NNIC is adding a touch of holiday magic to your travel experience with their “Fly and Win” Promo. From December 16 to January 15, passengers have the chance to win luxury vehicles. Yes, you heard that right—a 2024 BMW X5 for international flyers and a 2024 BMW 3 Series Sedan for domestic travelers.
Joining the raffle is a breeze. Just scan the QR code displayed throughout the airport, and voilá, you’re in! Each flight to or from NAIA earns you an e-ticket entry, so the more you fly, the better your chances. Winners will be announced on January 17, with a representative from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) present to ensure everything is fair and square.
To ensure a stress-free experience, NNIC recommends arriving early: 2.5 to 3 hours before domestic flights and 3.5 to 4 hours for international ones. Also, check flight updates directly with airlines through official websites. Packing smartly and following carry-on baggage restrictions can also save you time during security screenings.
NNIC President Ramon S. Ang expresses gratitude to travelers, saying, “We thank the public for their continued trust in NAIA as we work to provide a welcoming experience that reflects the joy and warmth of the holiday season.”
In conclusion, whether you’re flying to a winter wonderland or heading to warmer shores, NAIA is ready to make your holiday travels as pleasant as possible. With all these enhancements and festive touches, it’s clear that NNIC is committed to making your journey joyful. Happy travels!
