Converge ICT: Pioneering the Future of Technology in the Philippines

In a world where technology evolves faster than you can say "fiber broadband," staying ahead of the curve is not just an option but a necessity. Leading fiber broadband and technology provider, Converge ICT Solutions Inc., knows this all too well. Recently, they hosted a five-day technology exhibit at their headquarters in Pasig, showcasing the cutting-edge technologies powering their world-class network. This event wasn't just about flaunting their tech prowess; it marked a pivotal point in their journey to becoming a Filipino technology powerhouse.
The Grand Showcase: A Peek into Tomorrow

Let's talk about the magic that unfolded at the Converge headquarters. The exhibit featured an array of technologies that are not only shaping industries but are also redefining how we live and work. Converge invited several of its tech partners to showcase their solutions, aiming to educate its workforce, especially the non-technical staff, about the emerging technologies transforming industries globally.

The exhibit was more than just a tech show-and-tell. It was a strategic move by Converge to strengthen its lifeblood by aiming for an edge in the telco-to-techco race. This event was a clear indication of Converge's intent to not just keep up with the Joneses but to lead the pack. The company is rolling up its sleeves, ready to take on the challenge of becoming a full-fledged technology player.

Building a Future-Ready Workforce

Converge's CEO and Co-Founder, Dennis Anthony Uy, couldn't have said it better: "We need to build a pool of professionals who have the skills and passion to navigate the challenges of the future." Talent is one of the critical areas that will speed up Converge's evolution into a technology powerhouse. While they already have a strong foundation as a fiber broadband leader, upskilling their people is crucial to keeping pace with global tech providers.

In July last year, Converge initiated its Competenshift campaign. This program aims to help employees hone skillsets aligned with the firm’s goal of offering solutions beyond internet connectivity. It's a comprehensive initiative that includes webinars, workshops, and training sessions on a gamut of topics such as Converge Network Architecture, Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Blockchain.

A Culture of Continuous Learning

The tech landscape is evolving at breakneck speed, and many skills risk becoming outdated. The challenge for Converge is to identify the expertise essential for their business and support their people in developing these competencies. As Uy aptly pointed out, "This doesn’t happen overnight."

To address this, Converge has invested in learning management systems and platforms like LinkedIn Learning. These platforms provide all personnel with access to relevant and free courses, enabling them to enhance their performance while obtaining certificates that can help advance their careers. Additionally, the company has implemented a policy requiring all its workers to complete at least 40 learning hours per year. This policy underscores Converge's commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning.

The Road Ahead: From Telco to Techco

Converge is not just resting on its laurels. The company is on a mission to transform from a traditional telco to a techco. This transformation is not just about adopting new technologies but also about reshaping the company's identity and values.

The road ahead is challenging, but Converge is well-equipped to navigate it. By investing in its people and technology, the company is positioning itself as a leader in the tech industry. The recent technology exhibit is just one of the many steps Converge is taking to ensure its place at the forefront of technological innovation.

In conclusion, Converge ICT Solutions Inc. is not just a leading fiber broadband provider; it's a visionary company that's paving the way for a tech-powered future in the Philippines. Their commitment to innovation, education, and transformation is a testament to their dedication to becoming a true technology powerhouse. As they continue their journey from telco to techco, one thing is clear: Converge is a force to be reckoned with in the ever-evolving world of technology.

Surfing Safely: Converge ICT's Project PIGLET Takes Digital Literacy to New Heights

COURTESY: Converge ICT

In today’s tech-savvy world, where gadgets are as common as schoolbooks, it’s essential to equip our kids with the tools they need to navigate the digital landscape safely. Amid the increasing social media activity of young Filipinos, leading fiber broadband and technology provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has stepped up to the plate. They’ve launched an advocacy campaign aimed at advancing digital literacy and privacy awareness among school children. And trust me, this isn’t just another boring lecture; it’s all about making learning fun and engaging!

So, what’s the big idea behind Project PIGLET? Well, it stands for Privacy Integration through Guided Learning of Emerging Technologies. Sounds fancy, right? But it essentially focuses on educating our little ones about the importance of protecting their personal information online. With the internet being a wild west of both amazing opportunities and potential risks, it’s crucial for kids to learn how to navigate it wisely.

Converge kicked off this initiative by teaming up with Francisco Legaspi Memorial School (FLMS) in Pasig. They engaged pupils from Grades 2 to 6 in discussions about digital literacy and responsible online behavior. It’s all about raising awareness about the potential risks lurking out there. Atty. Laurice Esteban-Tuason, Converge’s SVP and Corporate Compliance and Data Protection Officer, highlighted the urgency of teaching kids to be vigilant right from the start. After all, children are getting access to gadgets and social media at younger ages than ever before!

To make the launch of Project PIGLET memorable, Converge hosted a storytelling session that brought the topic to life. Picture this: kids, parents, and teachers huddled together, eager to dive into the adventures of the 'Astro Kids' in the 'Internet Universe.' This story isn’t your typical fairy tale – it’s a captivating narrative where our young heroes encounter deceptive monsters. These aren’t your average monsters, though; they pretend to be friendly while trying to trick the kids into sharing their personal information. Yikes!

With Captain Conrad leading the charge, the Astro Kids learned the importance of being cautious online. They discovered that not everyone who seems friendly in cyberspace has good intentions. The storytelling session didn’t just entertain; it educated! Participants were encouraged to speak up about potential identity theft or misinformation, fostering a culture of awareness and vigilance. It’s a powerful message wrapped in a fun package.

But wait, there’s more! Converge isn’t stopping at just one school or one campaign. They have big plans for the future. Next year, they aim to expand their efforts and engage students at various academic levels across the country. The goal is to spread the message of digital safety far and wide, reaching as many kids as possible. It’s all about creating safe and secure online spaces for the younger generation.

In the past, Converge has also teamed up with organizations like the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) to combat the distribution of harmful content online. Their commitment to keeping the internet a safer place for children is commendable. By blocking almost 12 billion entry attempts to illicit and harmful web addresses by the end of 2023, they’re taking concrete steps to ensure that their network isn’t used for criminal activities.

As technology continues to evolve, the need for digital literacy and privacy awareness becomes even more critical. Converge’s Project PIGLET is just the beginning of a broader movement to educate and empower the next generation. With so many emerging technologies at their fingertips, kids must learn how to use them responsibly.

It’s up to all of us—parents, educators, and community members—to support initiatives like Project PIGLET. By fostering a culture of awareness and empowerment, we can help our children navigate the digital world safely. So, let’s embrace this journey together and ensure that our kids are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in the online universe. After all, a safer internet means a brighter future for everyone!
