Converge ICT: Pioneering the Future of Technology in the Philippines

In a world where technology evolves faster than you can say "fiber broadband," staying ahead of the curve is not just an option but a necessity. Leading fiber broadband and technology provider, Converge ICT Solutions Inc., knows this all too well. Recently, they hosted a five-day technology exhibit at their headquarters in Pasig, showcasing the cutting-edge technologies powering their world-class network. This event wasn't just about flaunting their tech prowess; it marked a pivotal point in their journey to becoming a Filipino technology powerhouse.
The Grand Showcase: A Peek into Tomorrow

Let's talk about the magic that unfolded at the Converge headquarters. The exhibit featured an array of technologies that are not only shaping industries but are also redefining how we live and work. Converge invited several of its tech partners to showcase their solutions, aiming to educate its workforce, especially the non-technical staff, about the emerging technologies transforming industries globally.

The exhibit was more than just a tech show-and-tell. It was a strategic move by Converge to strengthen its lifeblood by aiming for an edge in the telco-to-techco race. This event was a clear indication of Converge's intent to not just keep up with the Joneses but to lead the pack. The company is rolling up its sleeves, ready to take on the challenge of becoming a full-fledged technology player.

Building a Future-Ready Workforce

Converge's CEO and Co-Founder, Dennis Anthony Uy, couldn't have said it better: "We need to build a pool of professionals who have the skills and passion to navigate the challenges of the future." Talent is one of the critical areas that will speed up Converge's evolution into a technology powerhouse. While they already have a strong foundation as a fiber broadband leader, upskilling their people is crucial to keeping pace with global tech providers.

In July last year, Converge initiated its Competenshift campaign. This program aims to help employees hone skillsets aligned with the firm’s goal of offering solutions beyond internet connectivity. It's a comprehensive initiative that includes webinars, workshops, and training sessions on a gamut of topics such as Converge Network Architecture, Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Blockchain.

A Culture of Continuous Learning

The tech landscape is evolving at breakneck speed, and many skills risk becoming outdated. The challenge for Converge is to identify the expertise essential for their business and support their people in developing these competencies. As Uy aptly pointed out, "This doesn’t happen overnight."

To address this, Converge has invested in learning management systems and platforms like LinkedIn Learning. These platforms provide all personnel with access to relevant and free courses, enabling them to enhance their performance while obtaining certificates that can help advance their careers. Additionally, the company has implemented a policy requiring all its workers to complete at least 40 learning hours per year. This policy underscores Converge's commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning.

The Road Ahead: From Telco to Techco

Converge is not just resting on its laurels. The company is on a mission to transform from a traditional telco to a techco. This transformation is not just about adopting new technologies but also about reshaping the company's identity and values.

The road ahead is challenging, but Converge is well-equipped to navigate it. By investing in its people and technology, the company is positioning itself as a leader in the tech industry. The recent technology exhibit is just one of the many steps Converge is taking to ensure its place at the forefront of technological innovation.

In conclusion, Converge ICT Solutions Inc. is not just a leading fiber broadband provider; it's a visionary company that's paving the way for a tech-powered future in the Philippines. Their commitment to innovation, education, and transformation is a testament to their dedication to becoming a true technology powerhouse. As they continue their journey from telco to techco, one thing is clear: Converge is a force to be reckoned with in the ever-evolving world of technology.

Experience Vision Through Converge: A Free Upgrade Promo for FiberX Subscribers

SOURCE: Converge

In a world where connectivity is key, Converge is paving the way for a more seamless and comprehensive digital experience. Both new and existing Converge FiberX customers in Metro Manila now have an exciting opportunity to add a pay television service to their subscription with no extra cash-out. This promotion, valid through August 31, offers access to a wider selection of local and international television channels for a monthly fee of P99 or P299, depending on a customer’s chosen plan.

The no cash-out promo is a pioneering initiative that will revolutionize the way we consume digital content. With this promo, FiberX customers have a chance to avail Vision without the additional expense of the Xperience box, which is priced at P2,800. This change holds particularly true for customers in Metro Manila who take advantage of the Vision subscription by August 31.

"At Converge, we always stay ahead in the game by providing the latest innovation for the best digital experience," says Converge CEO and Co-Founder, Dennis Anthony Uy. Vision, a value-added service, uses cutting-edge technology for digital platforms, providing access to TV channels and OTT (over-the-top) services with future potential for on-demand content like live concert streaming.

In 2021, Converge, in partnership with its affiliate cable company Pacific Kabelnet (PKN), introduced Vision as a comprehensive all-in-one home entertainment service. It supports 4K streaming and offers 61 to 88 multi-genre and multi-language channels, including popular ones like USA Today News, HBO, Cartoon Network, and History Channel.

Online linear streaming is the technology that powers Vision. It enables users to access content via their Converge fiber broadband connection, offering greater flexibility and interactivity, as well as delivering high-definition (HD) content compared to traditional broadcasting methods.

Vision accommodates Filipinos' demand for diverse online video content by providing access to YouTube. Music videos, vlogs, and other popular content can be streamed at any time. This feature is crucial considering that 97.2 percent of Filipino online users watch any kind of video online at least once a week, as per the DataReportal’s Digital 2024 study.

Vision users can also download several other applications including Spotify, Viu, Disney+, Curiosity, Amazon Prime, and HBO Go. “The Vision box not only offers access to cable TV channels, but also allows customers to download their favorite OTT apps, play games, and use the integrated Google assistant," says Benjamin Azada, Converge's Chief Commercial Officer.

Converge has made a significant impact on the digital landscape. It dominated the Ookla® Speedtest Awards™ in the second half of 2023, winning the title of the Fastest Internet Service Provider in the Philippines. Converge also bagged major awards in multiple categories including Best Internet Gaming Experience, Best Internet Video Experience, and Top-Rated Internet in the Philippines.

Converge has shown gratitude to its subscribers by providing free internet speed upgrades to its existing FiberX customers. FiberX 1500, 2000, and 2500 are now 100 Mbps faster, improving subscribers’ connection to up to 300 Mbps, 500 Mbps, and 700 Mbps, respectively. FiberX 3500 subscribers can now enjoy a 200-Mbps increase, raising their 800-Mbps internet connection to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps). This nationwide and automatic speed increase offer is effective until March 31, 2024.
