Surabaya (29/05) — Exciting news from PT PAL Indonesia! After officially kicking off the First Steel Cutting (FSC) ceremony for the second Philippines Landing Dock (LD) Export Ship back in January 2024, PT PAL Indonesia has now reached another significant milestone: the Keel Laying stage. This marks a monumental step in the construction process, and the event was packed with enthusiastic participants and key figures.

COO PT PAL Indonesia Iqbal Fikri, alongside GM Commercial Ship Division Supriono and Project Manager Parnianto, hosted a visit from the Technical Inspection and Acceptance Committee (TIAC) of the Philippine Navy. This inspection team was led by Capt Leo Amor A. Vidal and his crew, accompanied by Capt Emerson F Oxales PN (GSC) as the Chairman of the Philippines Navy Owner Representatives (PNOR).

The Keel Laying ceremony was more than just a formality. It was a celebration of hard work, dedication, and collaboration. "Every step in the construction of this ship, from First Steel Cutting to Keel Laying, reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire team. We are proud to work with the Philippine Navy and are confident that this ship will be a valuable asset for them," said Iqbal Fikri in his speech. He emphasized that this project is not just about building ships but also about strengthening defense and security relations in Southeast Asia.

The ceremony included a presentation by Project Manager Parnianto, who highlighted the significant milestones achieved so far. Capt Emerson F Oxales PN (GSC) expressed his pride in the project, stating, "This is a good achievement for the second Landing Dock Ship. And I always remember that PT PAL always prioritizes quality in its products. This project ran smoothly because we were able to collaborate with the PT PAL Project Management Team very well."

The ceremony didn't end with the symbolic lowering of the ship's block into the Semarang graving dock area. It continued with a detailed technical review by the TIAC and PNOR teams at the workshop. This review was crucial in ensuring that every aspect of the ship's construction meets the high standards set by both PT PAL Indonesia and the Philippine Navy.

With a weight of up to 7,400 tons, the Landing Dock ship is designed to meet the specific needs of the Philippine Navy. It's capable of sailing for up to 30 days, making it an ideal solution for various operational assignments in the Southeast Asia region. PT PAL Indonesia's commitment to quality and precision is evident in every step of the construction process.

In today's ever-changing geopolitical landscape, the need for naval ships, both combatant and military support vessels, has never been more critical. Defense capability is not just a symbol of strength; it's a tool to achieve national goals and interests. The collaboration between PT PAL Indonesia and the Philippine Navy is a testament to the importance of strong defense and security relations in the region.

PT PAL Indonesia, the largest maritime manufacturing company in Indonesia, has proven its expertise in the design and construction of warships, commercial vessels, and general engineering projects.
